Palms West Chamber’s Taste of the West Packs the House
The 12th Annual Taste of the West and Chocolate Lovers Festival on June 4, 2009 exceeded the Palms West Chamber’s wildest dreams – with record-breaking numbers of satisfied tummies filling the aisles of the Americraft Expo Center at the South Florida Fairgrounds.
With 32 food vendors participating and ticket sales estimated to about three thousand head — the gastronomic event was declared a resounding success by Special Events Director Anitra Harmon. The low entrance fee of 10 bucks was a true bargain – a low cost opportunity to sample local fare and get dinner and dessert as well as to collect some great coupons to entice thrift-minded diners a chance to enjoy their favorites at a later date.
Royal Palm Toyota was the Presenting Event sponsor and passed out raffle tickets for a chance to win a GPS device. They also had several cars prominently displayed bearing signs that read “Win me” – part of an ongoing Palms West fundraiser held in conjunction with Royal Palm Toyota to help raise money for the new chamber building.
Highlights of the event were a cake decorating contest, a kids’ cooking class and of course the ever popular Favorite Chocolate vendor contest. As the attendees left the building, they dropped their ballot with their nomination for their favorite chocolate vendor into the top secret ballot box.
Hoffman’s was declared to be the winner of the Chocolate Lovers Contest at the monthly Chamber luncheon, which was held at Carrabba’s of Royal Palm Beach.
All in all it was a great opportunity for attendees to sate or wet their appetites and a great way for local businesses to introduce themselves up close and personal. Many thanks to the kind lady from Med Express who averted near disaster by giving her ticket to my distraught 11-year-old-son who had accidentally thrown out his sample card.
